I cleared the first "normal" difficulty in a few hours on my very first run, dabbling in GAW right now so I really dont know about "screw ups" I've only lost a few dudes every once in a while when I played on normal (On the last floor) but otherwise its not that bad. The shift in difficulty between More Pain and Good Always wins is huge. This game is a lot more forgiving than DD is though still very very hard (on high difficulties). After retreating, you can then regroup and just retry that fight and the enemies will be on the same health you left them and with the same casualties still dead (except bosses reset completely). You will escape the fight with no penalty in general, though you may still lose other minions as you retreat because several enemies will get free attacks at you. The good news is that if combat seems to be going badly or you lose a minion and know it will now go badly, you can retreat. However, just like in DD, don't get too attached. However you can lose minions that were built with rare parts or carrying very rare items and that can hurt. You will in general have enough parts to replace several dozens of minions like this. It won't be as good but it will be close. If you lose minions in combat, you get some of the items and parts they had back, and can easily build a replacement. You can recover from a team wipe or a few casualties much quicker than you can in DD. (EDIT: Only on More Pain (2nd) difficulty or lower).īut a total wipe is very unlikely, though can easily brick wall. This means in the event of a total wipe (i.e you lose all minions and have no parts to make more) you can restart from the beginning of the floor you wiped on. You can checkpoint at the start of each floor. Well on higher difficulties anyway, I haven't payed More Pain in ages, I imagine it's quicker, because the player will faceroll on that setting, it's just for unlocking classes.
